Dear Friends of St. Louis de Montfort,

On behalf of our Faith Community, I am happy to welcome you to our new and constantly-improving Parish Website. I am grateful that you found us!  Our Parish is located in Sound Beach, New York, east of Port Jefferson and west of Rocky Point on Long Island.

The heart of our Parish Mission Statement is rooted in the Gospel: “To proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ’s love: through our active involvement as a Parish Community in works of Charity, Faith, Worship, Justice and Mercy.  All Are Welcome!”

Our mission becomes visible in action: in our weekday and weekend liturgies; in our Family Faith Formation sessions; in the service hours performed by our confirmation candidates; in the loving care shared with needy families who seek help from our Outreach Office; in the joy experienced by our Pre-School children and families; and in the consistent and deeply-rooted love of our adult members, our most recent faith ancestors!

In a little over a year from now, we will begin a thirteen-month celebration of the founding of our Parish Community fifty years ago. In doing so, we will reflect back on our faith community’s existence as a mission of a local parish, on members finding their “home away from home” in “the little white church,” and in “the white front-lawn tent” that prefaced the current building in which we are privileged to worship. At the same time, our 50th Anniversary Celebration will be designed to touch every element of present parish life and will, with God’s grace, assist each member to have a strong or stronger relationship with Jesus going forward.

We hope that you will visit us often in the days and weeks to come, as we strive to grow stronger in Jesus’ love. If we can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact us here at the Parish. Our Patron St. Louis de Montfort, a French priest who lived in the late 17th and early 18th century, had a strong devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Here is one of the quotes from his writings that continues to inspire us:

God is a spring of living water, which flows into the hearts of those who pray.”

May Our Loving God bless you in all your travels, and give you peace.

Your friend in Christ Jesus,

Fr. Chris Heller
