Dear fellow parishioners,
It has been a beautiful spring season. We have
had so many wonderful celebrations at the Church; especially for
all of our second graders who received their First Holy Communions;
and then Bishop John Dunne’s
visit to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation on April 23rd. Now
the “wedding season” is ready to begin! Congratulations
to all who have received these sacraments. And a word of special
appreciation to our parents, godparents and sponsors, too. Always
be good teachers and examples in the ways of faith!
Last Saturday, one of our own, Mr. Daniel J.
Fischer was ordained to the sacred order of Deacon at the Cathedral
of St. Agnes in Rockville Centre. On the following day he joined
the other clergy of St. Louis de Montfort Parish and parishioners
at a Mass of Thanksgiving – and
he preached his first official homily, and serving at the altar.
A lovely reception followed in the lower Church. We congratulate
Dan and his wife Margaret and their family. Always serve the Lord
and his people with gladness!
Last Fall, the Parish Finance Committee recommended to me that
the upper and lower Church parking fields be repaired and refurbished.
Part One was completed before Christmas, as sink holes were filled,
asphalt replaced and cracks sealed. We are about to get underway
with Part Two of that project with the cleaning, sealing and re-striping
of all of the parking areas and driveways on the Church grounds.
We are currently obtaining estimates, and hope to have the work
accomplished before July. We estimate that the cost of the entire
project will be about $60,000.00. Those of you who use the envelope
system for your weekly support offerings to the Parish (which I
encourage every parish family to do), will note that there is a
special envelope in the packet entitled: Building and Grounds Maintenance
which is scheduled as a second collection on the weekend of June
16-17. I am encouraging every one in the parish to consider a special
extra gift to the Church for that collection, so that we will be
able to pay for this important maintenance. In the past your response
has always been so generous when presented with a real need. And,
my friends, this is a time of real need. Thank you for your good
stewardship!
On this great Feast of Pentecost, I pray that the Holy Spirit of
God will continue to bless you, and keep you in his care!
With love,
Father Charlie
