VIRTUS is the
brand name that identifies best practices programs designed to help
prevent wrongdoing and promote "rightdoing" within religious
organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people
to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact
with the Church” (from the VIRTUS website).
All St. Louis de Montfort Parish volunteers are required to attend
VIRTUS Training and to update that training each month via training
bulletins on the Internet. This is extremely important, so that
we, as a Church, can take every possible step to protect the people
we are trying to help.
Our Parish is beginning the Second Phase of the Program of the
Bishops of the United States for protecting our children and teenagers.
In our First Phase, we asked all our parish volunteers to submit
to a criminal background check. We deeply appreciate your cooperation
with this extensive undertaking. The second phase involves training
all our volunteers to become more aware of the signs of abuse and
to eliminate possibilities for that abuse occurring. We are asking
all of our volunteers to attend the VIRTUS training session.
Our next session will be held on Tuesday, April 24th at 10:00 a.m.
and 8:00 p.m. in the Religious Education Meeting Room. Please attend
either the morning or evening session.
