“…and they anointed with oil many who were sick and
cured them.” Mark 6:13
The Catholic sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known
as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate
not only for physical ailments, but also for mental and spiritual
sickness.
This sacrament is for anyone who might be sick or facing death,
old age, serious mental illness, people who are going to have surgery,
and those who might find strength with the sacrament. It is a blessing
to help them make a transition from this world into God's kingdom.
Special oils and prayers are used.
This sacrament is celebrated on the First Saturday of the month
at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel. For any home emergency, call the Parish
Office at 744-8566. All of our local hospitals are served by specially
assigned Catholic chaplains. |
